Who makes the best pizza in Washington Township, New Jersey? That is a very difficult question to answer, even for those of us who live here! Washington Township is a pizza lover’s town – it’s a suburb of Philadelphia, so there’s a high standard for pizza here. Wherever you are in Washington Township, you’re not far from very good pizza!
Washington Township’s Best Pizza Places
We all have our own opinions on who makes the greatest pizza in town, but we decided not to just handle this on our own – for this post, we consulted some review sites to see what others had to say as well, and we picked five local favorites to tell you about. Here they are, in no particular order:
Sal’s Pizza. Sal’s on Egg Harbor Road in Sewell is a small place, but they’re among the most popular in the area for simple pizza done right. They’ve been a staple of Sewell for over 50 years, so they know what people like! Sal’s offers Sicilian thin crust pizza, Rustica pizza, and customizable “build your own” pizza. Sal’s has plenty of longtime devotees…and that’s not easy in this town.
Holy Tomato on Black Horse Pike in Blackwood is known not just for terrific brick oven pizza, but also for the atmosphere and relatively affordable eats. It’s a great place for a sit-down meal with their original tomato pie, boardwalk pie, or a vegan red pie. Like things spicy? Try the buffalo chicken pie!
Pizzeria Mannino’s on Broadway in Pitman makes pizza from a brick oven imported directly from Italy – and comes out light and crispy. Pizzeria Mannino’s was voted one of the “18 Best Pizzerias You’ve Probably Never Heard Of” by NJ.com, and one of NJ Monthly’s “35 Palaces of Pizza You Must Try”. No easy feat in state known for quality pizza! Lots of fancy pizzas on the menu here, for every taste.
Slice, also on Egg Harbor Road in Sewell, offers high end thin crust pies in multiple unusual styles, including truffled ribeye, truffle, bruschetta and more. Slice is well-known for their gluten-free and vegan offerings, and they only use all-natural and organic ingredients. It’s a great spot for people who like a healthier option of fancy pizza.
Panichelli’s Pizza on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road in Turnersville is a small place inside a strip mall by the Jefferson hospital, but it has legions of loyal fans who call it the best in South Jersey. Panichelli’s gets high marks not just for great pizza, but also their reasonable prices and friendly service.
So there’s just five places to start when it comes to the best pizza in Washington Township, New Jersey – but believe us, there are plenty more great stops for pizza here! It’s just one of many things we love about living in Washington Township.
